1 1 Section 1. CONSUMER EDUCATION AND OUTREACH == MEDICARE
1 2 PART D == APPROPRIATION. There is appropriated from the
1 3 general fund of the state to the insurance division of the
1 4 department of commerce for the fiscal year beginning July 1,
1 5 2005, and ending June 30, 2006, the following amount, or so
1 6 much thereof as is necessary, for the purpose designated:
1 7 For a consumer education and outreach program to reach
1 8 Iowans who are eligible for low=income prescription drug
1 9 coverage through Part D of the federal Medicare Prescription
1 10 Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act of 2003, Pub. L. No.
1 11 108=173:

1 13 The division of insurance shall partner with the area
1 14 agencies on aging, public health nurses, AARP Iowa, the older
1 15 Iowans legislature, health care providers, and advocates for
1 16 persons with disabilities and older Iowans in implementing the
1 17 consumer education and outreach program.
1 18 EXPLANATION
1 19 This bill appropriates $500,000 from the general fund of
1 20 the state to the insurance division of the department of
1 21 commerce for the fiscal year 2005=2006 to provide a consumer
1 22 education and outreach program to reach Iowans who are
1 23 eligible for low=income prescription drug coverage through
1 24 Part D of the federal Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement,
1 25 and Modernization Act of 2003. The bill directs the division
1 26 of insurance to partner with the area agencies on aging,
1 27 public health nurses, AARP Iowa, the older Iowans legislature,
1 28 health care providers, and advocates for persons with
1 29 disabilities and older Iowans in implementing the consumer
1 30 education and outreach program.
